Tennessee Times Celebrating the 4th!

Tennessee Times Celebrating the 4th of July!

Fun July 4th festivities kicked off when Tyler and I visited Mom and Dad (aka Grandma and Grandpa DeVos) for a few days at their stomping grounds in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.  That's about a 4 hour drive from our home in Marietta and it's always great to enjoy time together with them there where I enjoyed my high school years.  Fairfield is a beautiful, wooded, resort community on the Cumberland Plateau and is close to the small (compared to Atlanta) community of Crossville.

Our celebration included the community's traditional pancake breakfast, craft fair (where my Dad also manned a booth along with the missionaries for the Church), and terrific firework show complete with musical accompaniment.  Of course, tradition also dictated that we watch a classic favorite movie:  1776!

No visit to the area is complete without a trip for super theater productions at the Cumberland County Playhouse, and this time we took in a wonderful production of Singing in the Rain. We kept singing those catchy songs for days -- rain or no!  We're ready for the stage now (well, almost?!?).

Such special times together!  Can't wait for our next visit!
