Excitedly, I headed home to Marietta for Christmas-time so we could celebrate the season with so much of our family!!! This year Mike, our kids and our married-in kids, grandchildren, parents, my sister and I shared a fantastic vacation holiday in Georgia. Everybody came and left on various dates but we got to spend most of almost 2 weeks together!
I left London right after Thanksgiving to be the "advance party" and get things rolling with seasonal activities until everybody arrived to help decorate the tree, bake and enjoy being together for our traditional festivities. I was so busy living it all, I didn't have time to stay current with posts while it was happening, so I'm doing a bit of catch up now.
Here are some of the highlights of a very special holiday time for us all . . .
Nutcracker Dreams
Ringing in the holiday season with Atlanta Ballet's magical production of the Nutcracker was a special treat! Performed at the Fabulous Fox Theater in downtown Atlanta, it was a whirl of dance and delight with the well-known and well-loved music, excellent dancers and beautiful costumes. Sugar Plum dreams for all!
Gingerbread Construction
Candy-crested gingerbread house construction was a hit, even with drippy frosting and a couple of collapsible walls (new open-air home feature?!?). They took sugary shape amidst lots of laughs -- and nibbling of the décor.
Lit Up at Stone Mountain!
Our Stone Mountain celebrations included Justin & Elise taking the tram to the top of the Southern-general carved mound and hiking down to the Christmas town. We connected with our whole group at various points in the evening enjoying shows, a 4-D movie, a glass-blowing demonstration, the parade, a cheery Christmas-sing-along train ride, oodles of lights and a festive firework display. Jax LOVED the train -- his favorite toy is a train right now -- and Raegan was fascinated by the twinkly, colorful lights.
